Create a Lasting Connection to the Methow Valley
We offer a variety of easy ways to support MVIC’s cross-cultural education and work. There are many ways to support the Methow Valley Interpretive Center beyond making a traditional cash donation.
A gift from your donor-advised fund, retirement account, investments, or estate may allow you to support MVIC's work while also advancing your personal financial and charitable goals.
Your generosity helps MVIC create opportunities for Indigenous perspectives to be shared, deepen understanding of the Methow Valley's natural and cultural history, and strengthen connections among people, place, and community.

If you are age 70 1/2 or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD, directly from an individual retirement account to MVIC.
A QCD may:
Satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution if you are required to take one
Exclude the transferred amount from your taxable income
Provide a tax-efficient giving option even if you do not itemize deductions
Allow you to support MVIC without first receiving the IRA distribution yourself
To qualify, the funds generally must be transferred directly from the IRA administrator to an eligible charitable organization. A QCD is not also claimed as a charitable income-tax deduction.
Please contact MVIC before initiating a transfer so we can confirm the appropriate receiving instructions and properly acknowledge your gift.
-
A gift of appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual-fund shares may offer advantages to you and MVIC.
Depending on your circumstances, donating securities directly rather than selling them first may allow you to:
Avoid recognizing some or all of the capital gain on the donated assets
Receive a charitable deduction based on the assets' eligible fair-market value
Make a larger charitable gift than might otherwise be possible
Securities may be accepted directly by MVIC or through the Community Foundation of North Central Washington, subject to the receiving organization's policies.
Please contact us before initiating a transfer. Stock gifts frequently arrive without information identifying the donor, so advance notice helps us acknowledge your gift and follow your wishes.

A charitable bequest is a gift made through your will or living trust. It can provide meaningful future support for MVIC without affecting your finances during your lifetime.
A bequest may take several forms:
A specific dollar amount
A percentage of your estate
A particular asset
All or part of the remaining balance of your estate
A contingent gift that takes effect under circumstances you define
You can revise a charitable bequest if your circumstances or priorities change.
Your attorney can help you determine the language that best reflects your wishes. Before finalizing a restricted bequest, we encourage you or your adviser to contact MVIC so we can ensure that your intended use can be honored over time.
Sample general bequest language
I give to Methow Field Institute dba Methow Valley Interpretive Center, a nonprofit organization located in Twisp, Washington, federal tax identification number 91-1626127, the sum of $________ [or ______ percent of my estate, or a description of the property] to be used for its general charitable purposes.

MVIC has a charitable fund at the Community Foundation of North Central Washington.
A gift to this fund can help strengthen MVIC's long-term financial sustainability. Depending on the fund's current policies, the Community Foundation may also be able to assist with gifts of securities, retirement assets, donor-advised fund grants, real estate, or other complex assets.
Before making a gift, please contact MVIC or the Community Foundation to confirm:
The exact name of MVIC's fund
Whether gifts are added to principal or made available for current use
The types of assets the fund can accept
How to ensure that your gift is properly attributed and acknowledged
Direct Your Gift to What Matters Most to You
Unrestricted gifts give MVIC the flexibility to direct resources where they are most needed. Donors may also ask about supporting a particular priority, such as:
Educational programs and field trips

Exhibits and interpretation
Native plants and the interpretive garden
Homestream Park stewardship
Organizational sustainability
An endowment or long-term fund
